Press Release - Heliport
There have been inquiries at Hvide Sande Harbor regarding the establishment of a heliport near Hvide Sande Harbor for some time. As part of these inquiries, an informational meeting on the subject was held on May 28. Following this, there has been considerable public debate. The board has also received several inquiries, and we would like to take the opportunity to thank for these contributions.
The purpose of a heliport has been to strengthen Hvide Sande Harbor's opportunities as a service harbor for the upcoming offshore wind farms in the North Sea.
In light of the debate, the board has decided to put the plans for a heliport near Hvide Sande on hold. The board assesses that the debate suggests that many people will perceive a negative consequence of a heliport in Hvide Sande. Therefore, the board will instead discuss at its upcoming board meeting whether there are suitable alternatives elsewhere than at Hvide Sande, for example, by using Stauning Airport.
Hvide Sande Harbor will continue to do everything possible to become a service harbor for the upcoming offshore wind farms in the North Sea. Hvide Sande Harbor has a very good location for this task, and the board assesses that even without a heliport, there is a good opportunity for us to succeed in becoming a service harbor. Similarly, the board will continue to focus on the harbor's other business areas.
