Hvide Sande Harbor has chosen an experienced local director

Hvide Sande Harbor has its new director in the local area Mogens Pedersen, who lives in Ringkøbing, but comes from a position as municipal director in Varde

It will be the 57-year-old Mogens Pedersen who will lead the further development of Hvide Sande Harbor and the environment around it.

Mogens Pedersen comes from a position as municipal director for Varde municipality, where he has been for the last 10 years. Prior to this job, Mogens has held several positions in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, where he has been responsible for the technical area, among other things. He is educated as a lawyer and is thus an experienced capacity, who will now take the helm and guide Hvide Sande Harbor safely forward. The task is to carry out Hvide Sande Harbor's strategy and ensure that the harbor continues to be a dynamic beacon for the sustainable development of the entire local area.

”We have been searching for an experienced leader with the right competencies to, on the one hand, pursue an ambitious commercial agenda focused on offshore, transport, and fishing, and on the other hand, support the local area's opportunities in tourism and retail. The complexity of the job is high, and one must be able to navigate contextually and appropriately in relation to the many diverse partners and stakeholders that operate in Hvide Sande Harbor. Mogens comes with solid experience in dealing with complex issues and managing various interests. The fact that he, as a lawyer, has an in-depth understanding of both legislation and governmental processes will be advantageous in this job,” says Hans Schneider, Chairman of the Board of Hvide Sande Harbor.

Mogens will start on March 1, and the focus will largely be on the further implementation of ”Strategy 2025,” which aims to secure more offshore contracts and develop the transport business while also ensuring that fishing is supported in the best possible way. At the same time, there remains a focus on implementing the new land use plan and attracting investors who can help develop tourism in Hvide Sande.

"I am highly motivated to continue the implementation of the chosen strategy. It is clear to me that there are very good development opportunities in all of the harbor's business sectors – not least the green transition – and I hope modestly that my background as a lawyer and my in-depth knowledge of legislation and governmental processes can be beneficial when the plans are to be realized. The harbor plays a crucial role in the town. I am passionate about influencing the continued development of the harbor in a way that also contributes to the development of Hvide Sande. A development that must happen in respect and collaboration with the many strong forces and cultures that exist in Hvide Sande,” states Mogens Pedersen. “I have a strong desire to challenge myself and try something completely new. The job as municipal director is a completely different role, where Hvide Sande Harbor is smaller both in size and economics, but I look forward to a more ”hands-on” job, where there is a shorter distance from decision to action and where one gets closer to both employees and partners. And where I can make a real difference with my experience and background,” continues Mogens Pedersen.

Mogens lives in Ringkøbing with his wife Kirsten. They also have 2 adult children who have left home. Mogens is locally engaged in community life, among other things as a board member of Egnsteatret OM.
