Hvide Sande Harbour has chosen an experienced local director

Hvide Sande Harbor has its new director in the local area Mogens Pedersen is resident in Ringkøbing, but comes from a position as municipal director in Varde

It will be the 57-year-old Mogens Pedersen who will lead the further development of Hvide Sande Harbor and the environment surrounding it.

Mogens Pedersen comes from a position as municipal director for Varde municipality, where he has been for the last 10 years. Before this job, Mogens has held several positions in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, where he has among other things been responsible for the technical area. He is an educated lawyer and thus an experienced capacity, who will now take over the helm and guide Hvide Sande Harbor safely forward. The task is to implement Hvide Sande Harbor's strategy and ensure that the harbor remains a dynamic lighthouse for the sustainable development of the entire local area.

”We have been looking for an experienced leader with the right competencies to on the one hand pursue ambitious commercial agendas in offshore, transport, and fishing, and on the other hand support the local area's opportunities in tourism and retail. The complexity in the job is high and one must be able to navigate situationally and in a well-tuned manner in relation to the many diverse partners and stakeholders operating at Hvide Sande Harbor. Mogens brings solid experience in working with complex issues and managing many different interests. That he simultaneously as a lawyer has in-depth knowledge of both legislation and regulatory work will be an advantage in this job,” says Hans Schneider, Chairman of the Board of Hvide Sande Harbor.

Mogens will take office on March 1, and the focus will largely be on the continued implementation of ”Strategy 2025” where it is about securing more offshore contracts and developing the transportation business while ensuring that fishing continues to be supported as best as possible. At the same time, there is still focus on implementing the new land use plan and attracting investors who can help develop tourism in Hvide Sande.

"I am highly motivated to continue the implementation of the chosen strategy. It is clear to me that there are very good development opportunities within all of the harbor's business segments – not least the green transition - and I hope, in all modesty, that my background as a lawyer and my in-depth knowledge of legislation and regulatory processes can be an advantage when the plans are to be implemented. The harbor has a central role in the town. I am passionate about contributing to the continued development of the harbor in a way that also contributes to the development of Hvide Sande. A development that must take place in respect and cooperation with the many strong forces and cultures present in Hvide Sande,” states Mogens Pedersen. ”I have a strong desire to challenge myself and try something completely new. The job as municipal director is a completely different job, where Hvide Sande harbor is smaller in both size and economy, but I look forward to a more ”hands-on” job, where there is a shorter path from decision to action and where one gets closer to both employees and partners. And where I, with my experience and background, can make a real difference,” continues Mogens Pedersen.

Mogens resides in Ringkøbing with his wife Kirsten. They also have 2 adult children, who have left the nest. Mogens is locally engaged in community life, among other things as a board member of Egnsteatret OM.
