After a tender without bidders in 2024, there is now good news: The state is re-tendering two offshore wind farms in the North Sea west of Hvide Sande – and Hvide Sande Harbor is ready.

In 2024, no one was interested in bidding on the three offshore wind farms in the North Sea west of Hvide Sande. Hvide Sande Harbor urged the Government and Parliament at the time to quickly clarify the reasons for this, so that based on this, a new tender could be initiated. Hvide Sande Harbor therefore welcomes the initiation of a new tender for two of the three areas west of Hvide Sande.

The new bidding round demonstrates that there is a willingness to reduce Denmark’s and Europe’s CO2 emissions, and that there is a willingness to make Europe independent of Russian gas. It is positive that there is a connection between political goals and concrete actions.

Hvide Sande Harbor expects that this time there will be bidders, and Hvide Sande Harbor hopes that this will also create tasks in Hvide Sande. Hvide Sande Harbor handles a range of diverse tasks, and one of the focus areas is to solve tasks related to the establishment of offshore wind farms in the North Sea and the daily ongoing servicing of the wind farms.

”It will have great significance for the future development of Hvide Sande Harbor if we can get tasks related to the upcoming parks. It will create an economic and task-based foundation for strengthening the Harbor’s capacity,” states Mogens Pedersen, director of Hvide Sande Harbor. ”Additionally, it will also be good for the town and area that there is a prospect of even more activities at Hvide Sande Harbor, as it will generate revenue and even more job opportunities in the town and area.”

Hvide Sande Harbor estimates that the ongoing servicing of the two parks will create about 100 new jobs in the town.

The plan is for the two new parks to be operational in 2032 and 2033.
